Toronto Latvian Society Saturday School was founded in 1950. In 2015 already 64th class finished the school. Since the opening of the school already 1050 pupils have finished it. The school’s premises are located in Canada Latvian Centre in Toronto. The school works from September until the end of May on Saturdays. Pupils at the age from 3 to 14 years learn in the school. The school’s work is organised in kindergarten, pre-school and grade 1 – 8 groups. The pupils learn Latvian language, history, geography, Bible lessons, folk dances, singing and kokle playing.



Several traditional events are organised during the school year – school’s year ceremonious opening, performance of the oldest school’s pupils in the soldiers’ memorial event in Saulaine, mummery, Latvian State Proclamation anniversary celebration on November 18, Christmas, Friendly Call Day, Colonel’s Kalpaks’ memorial event, Family Day and school’s finishing day.
